The panel discussion "Russian immunization program: challenges, opportunities and prospects" took place in RANEPA on May 24, 2017.

RANEPA expert platform "Viable Healthcare" conducts a research aimed to develop tools to improve the national vaccination system and to estimate the potential development of the National Vaccination Calendar. One of the key objectives of the project is to develop a model for calculating the economic burden of several diseases currently not included in the National Vaccination Calendar, and assess the economic effect from expending the National vaccination program.

The panel discussion focused on benefits of further modernization of the National Vaccination Calendar, estimates of the incidence rate and coverage of different vaccination programs in Russia. The panel commented on national vaccination program expansion practices throughout the world, factors that influence the effectiveness of vaccination programs. The attendees also discussed possible ways to raise funds to improve the National Vaccination Calendar.

Representatives of federal executive bodies, leading immunization experts, industry representatives joined the meeting.
